JJ Henderson is a key part of Durham’s Downtown & Neighborhood Plan, representing a successful public-private partnership between CCI, the Durham Housing Authority (DHA), and Florian Companies. Completed in late 2022, this renovation preserved affordable housing for elderly residents in Durham, with unit and system upgrades designed to improve residents’ quality of life and the building’s efficiency. Using HUD’s RAD conversion program, LIHTC funding, and support from the City of Durham, JJ Henderson stands as a model for maintaining and enhancing community housing resources.
