In December 2014, CCI purchased a campus located in Trenton, New Jersey comprised of two high rise towers: Trent East (228 units) and Trent West (246 units). CCI worked with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the New Jersey Housing Mortgage Finance Agency, the Economic Development Agency, Federal Home Loan Bank of New York and the City of Trenton in order to put together the financing for this important preservation transaction the realized an $8 million dollar renovation of the property. Upgrades included unit interior renovations, energy efficiencies, asbestos abatement and elevator modernizations, among other important building system upgrades. CCI was also able to undergo a RAD II conversion that enabled the protection of the resident subsidies, as well as an increase in available subsidized units to better serve the low-income community of Trenton.
